Catching up on last Whacky Wednesday at Sprucelands.

Whacky Wednesday is always a hit!
Goofy? Outrageous? You better believe it!
Look what you can do with pajamas, shorts, clothespins, and creativity.
I am soooo far behind. We had a lot happen on Thursday, and then on Friday I had to prepare trails for the trail pace that happened on Saturday morning. By Saturday afternoon, I was whipped. Slept three and a half hours, got up and started camper laundry. Then Saturday night was Karaoke night. This morning, Sunday, I presented Challenge Group. I've just been busy. Don't know how else to say that.

Anyway let me catch you up a bit. I'm going all the way back to Wednesday night because we had Whacky Wednesday for the second time this summer. The kids were a riot. They dressed up in outfits fit for Mad Magazine but then maybe that dates me. Some of you may not remember Mad Magazine!!!

Eating supper and eavesdropping on the kids.
There was quite a program at the barn. First the kids had a fashion show in our barn parking lot. Funny place for a fashion show and yet somehow everyone looked very comfortable and not out of place in the slightest. They pranced and danced their way 'down the runway' toward me and then struck a pose fit for our end of camp DVD and of course you folks at home.

I've included some of the characters in photos on this post. Every session the kids look a little different. If this was their second two week session, they were a bit less reserved this time around. Quite a bit funnier. Laughing even louder. Relaxed and silly to the utmost, and catching any newcomers up in the spirit of Sprucelands craziness.

That's Emily flying over a two foot jump. Yahoo!
Then there were relays. Groups of campers moved around from one station to another. While Boomer and Audi ate their supper in ring #2, there were wheelbarrow races in the indoor arena. I think Boomer and Audi both got a kick out of watching the fun over the gate. They acted nonchalant but they were quite curious about the riotous fun and hoopla.

Another station was a full jump course in ring #1. Now that was interesting. The kids 'cantered' the ring as if they were horses and jumped four jumps. By the time they made it to the fourth jump, they were exhausted. I think they actually developed a new appreciation for the horses and the fact those horses go around and around the ring, over and over jumps, carrying a rider.

The third station was in front of the barn. The kids actually were timed on how fast they could roll up our long hose. What a hoot! Never again will I think they can't roll up the hose. They're darn good at it.

And then there was a relay where a bunch of tack pieces and parts were put into upside down mounting blocks. Parts were called out and retrieved. You can see Hannah holding all that recovered tack. That's quite a load. She is such a good sport about things, quietly encouraging the kids to have a good time with each other. And she has such a wonderful sense of humor.

It is better to light one little candle than to stumble in the dark...
At the end of the evenings events, closing circle and evening song echoed across the barn area. I snapped a photo because the full moon was coming up on the other side of the trees. It really was quite lovely, rosy looking almost. A great color warmed the evening as a chill in the air made bedtime sound inviting. Of course, this week we're talking quite different temperatures. Last week was ideal.

Comments welcome from all of you 'out there' in the real world.
