Now I watch the kids and wonder how I ever had that much energy!Dr. Seuss has infiltrated all programs. Themes from his books sneak in everywhere and throughout the day quotes from his writings tap us on the shoulder to make us think about the best we can be.
Well, Tuesday evening the kids had a chance to be the best they could be as they played all kinds of tag. The picture above shows them linked in pairs at the elbow. Someone is 'it'. Actually, I think two or three people were 'it'. They ran around the field, linked elbows with one member of

the pair, and that meant the other one had to run and find a new buddy. So partners changed
continuously and the kids laughed themselves silly.
Another version of tag was a bit challenging. Whenever a person was tagged, they had to drop and make like a bridge for another person to crawl under. There were campers all over the field looking like bridges. They couldn't be 'freed' until someone crawled under them. It was actually an interesting way to get the kids doing an abridged version of what looked like push-ups.
Before the evening ended, there was blog tag. One or two kids were 'it'. Each one tagged another camper and then the two of them tagged another, each time adding the one they tagged to their group.

Gradually, the kids became huge 'blogs' running around the field trying to swallow up other groups and individuals. I've got to say they loved it. Much of the fun in this game was feeling included with the group. All ages and sizes joined together to be the last remaining 'blog'.
Dr. Seuss and his storybook characters must have joined us for this evening of crazy fun. I'm sure they were with us in spirit. Our cheering and laughing echoed across the field and into the woods. I wouldn't be surprised if all of Java Center heard us having the time of our lives.

OMG could life get any better than this? Linked arm tag, bridge tag, and blog tag? What kinds of creative, wild, and wacky minds come up with these wonderful twists and turns of basic down home fun?
The photos of everyone running en mass during blog tag looked like our campers had metamorphosized into a swarm of bees or a flock of birds flying in formation, and getting larger & more powerful with each passing second.
They all must have felt so in sinc with each other, utterly joyous and uninhibited as they ran with sheer abandon & delight as a part of an ever growing mass that was made up of all sizes, shapes, and colors.
When I look at the blog photos and then close my eyes I can hear everyone's laughter, giggling, and exuberant voices as if I had been there myself. I'm quite sure that the roars of pure glee emanating from the crowd must have been heard not only thrughout Java but all the way to Buffalo, and everywhere in between.
So many different voices singing out individually and ultimately in unison - incredible! The excitement and zaniness must have been contagious and irresistable.
Everyone who joined in must have had the times of their lives. I can't even begin to imagine how the collective energy & wild endorphin rushes must have felt. I imagine that they must have felt so liberated, free, and totally in the moment. No cares or worries-just connecting with themselves and with their friends while running with the wind in their faces.
I'm quite sure that they were all feeling so "high" that if they could, they would have taken flight and soared up into the sky.
It must have been incredible to be able to run around in pairs & in a humungous group with wild and uninhibited abandon.
I bet the ears of the horses and all of the other critters there must have been standing up ramrod straight - the decible levels of sound must have been off the richter scale.
I imagine that if all of the non-human Sprucelanders could put thoughts together and speak, that they would have been saying to each other "Have our human friends finally gone over the bend? Well, probably not- they're always doing things that anyone outside of Sprucelands could never imagine".
"This is okay with us isn't it, Romeo, Honey, Thunder, Casper, Lily, & Flirty so long as they re-gain their sanity before climbing on top of us for a ride?...And we love hearing how much fun our human friends are having - that means that they'll be in great moods when they come to us, and their enthusiasm will surely make our time with them fun - these humans like to share their laughter with us - Hooray!!!"
Thanks for sharing the joy that our daughters & sons are having with us Eileen. You & everyone there are amazing! What a wonderful way for me to start my day.
I am a most grateful and happy mom...YAY!!
