October Spirit

We had wonderful weekend riding clinics this fall. They came from Buffalo and Rochester, and the girls brought an excitement and enthusiasm for horses and riding that we appreciated.
Working with groups that like learning is so worth it. My clinic helpers are practicing how to teach at every weekend clinic. Having an eager group of new riders gives them success experiences and fills them with such satisfaction.

The best part of clinics is getting to know a brand new group of riders. All of us on the clinic staff work hard at knowing their names, hoping they feel important and special.

We want riders to understand that our knowing their names is also a help toward keeping them safe because then we get their attention when we need to, and quickly. Hey, you never know when a horse is going to get loose and do something novel.

I have to say this group of scouts had a terrific spirit. The girls seemed to accept and enjoy each other. They worked well together and with their horses on Saturday. On Sunday, they tackled the gymkhana in teams, practicing what they learned on Saturday. Their enthusiasm and sense of humor infected us all.
