Hey there! Hi there! Ho there! Just wanted to let you all know that our riding lesson on Saturday morning was THE BEST! We had so much fun.We started out in the indoor arena but the horses kept spooking and taking off on us as snow slid off the arena roof and crashed or thudded noisily to the ground. Even though we were doing okay, it was frustrating because Sunrise thought the arena sky was falling down. So we moved our lesson to Ring #1, and it was awesome riding in the snow.
That's "T" on Sunrise, Jenny on Audi, Niki - a new rider - on Fella, and Erin on Marea. You know, I don't think we will ever forget today's ride.
The horses were actually more comfortable in the snow because they picked their feet up higher and gave us more bounce. Trotting and cantering felt like riding a feather.I would guess this is a lesson we might remember next summer on one of those 90 degree days. Often Eileen tells us to think of something cold when we are riding in the heat. Well...now we have a clear memory of something cold, although the temps on Saturday were about 38 degrees. It wasn't too bad.
Erin surprizingly got a terrific canter on Marea. As you know, Marea likes to go fast. Erin discovered in the snow that while Marea still has plenty of energy, she is slower and more consistent. Her
canter was wonderful, and Audi did well too. I'm getting braver with every lesson. When we finished our ride, we put the horses out to pasture and then built a snowman. You should have heard us giggling. I hope you can see our snowman's face here. He has an icicle for a nose, hay for a mouth, and something special for the eyes. We will let you guess what we used for the eyes. Tee-hee-hee!!
Anyway, Eileen caught a photo of this happy guy as the sun was setting on Saturday...the end to a perfect day.
